Snapshots Thursday: TBR Dream Marathon

It's has been a while since I last posted something about running. Its just that I'm finishing my backpacking stories. But because The Bull Runner Dream Marathon 2o11 has an official date already (March 6, 2011) let me remember my most unforgettable race.

At the finish line, TBR Dream Marathon (May 22, 2010)
The Bull Runner Dream Marathon 2010- my very first marathon (42.195K /26.2 miles). My face shows all the hard work and pain my body and mind have gone through. Those short 5-second moment at the finish line is still memorable up to this very day, when you raise your hand in celebration of victory, high-five those your fellow marathoners, be congratulated by your friends and thank God for the strength He gave.
Unexplainable and indescribable for marathon virgins.
Those are moments that fellow marathoners would forever cherish.

To those who are planning to join TBR Dream Marathon 2011, all the best. To my TBR DM Classmates, let's pay it forward and be of help to the second batch of first-time marathoners. Bravo Ms.Jaymie for another "dream race" coming!!

May these quotes inspire each of us to continue running and
finish your first marathon:

"Our running shoes are really erasers. Every step erases a memmory of a past failure.
Every mile brings us closer to a clean slate. Each footstrike rubs away a word, a look,
or an event which led us to believe that sucess was beyond our grasp."
- John Bingham

"The marathon's about being in contention over the last 10K.  That's when it's about what you have in your core.  You have run all the strength, all the superficial fitness out of yourself, and it really comes down to what's left inside you.  To be able to draw deep and pull something out of yourself is one of the most tremendous things about the marathon."
 - Rob de Castella

Snapshots Thursday: Silliman University, Dumaguete

Fourth Snapshot featuring places where you can travel and race in one.
Curious of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd?

I don't know what you call this BIG white markers. BIG posts? BIG pawns used in chess? Haha
Do you know what are these?

Dumaguete City is one of the host for the 34th edition of Milo Marathon provincial races.
Race date: September 19, 2010 (Sunday)
Race distances: 3K / 5K / 10K / 21K
Registration center: Traffic Management Office, Quezon Park, Dumaguete City
Contact Infos: (035)225-5709 / (422)8109 / (0919)700-1783 and look for Mr. Jose Quirit

Honestly, I want to go back here at Dumaguete City- "The City of Gentle People". I haven't tried running in the Boulevard, I don't have enough time to roam around when I had an over night stay there. I was able to visit Silliman University, the Boulevard at night, the Bellfry Tower and Handumanan. From what I remember, food here is very cheap as its near the University (student meal for backpackers sounds ok). Well, maybe in the near future.

Snapshots Thursday: Flying Shoes

For those who loves to travel like me, I'm very much sure that you pack your running shoes with you. I actually hand carried mine just to make sure that he will be with me at the destination. Hi name is "NewB" (New Balance MR92) he substituted "Adi0" (Adizero Ace).

NewB buckled up on recent flight to Siargao.

I took this photo while taking off from Cebu when the cabin crews are not looking. Good thing I don't have a seat-mate and the passenger across me is already asleep.
This is NewB's 2nd time to fly. His first was Manila to Cebu. Be ready NewB, you will experience a lot of traveling this year.

How I wish my running shoes flies during races too.

Snapshots Thursday: Panglao Island, Bohol

The beauty of the Philippines is undeniable. After the last week's snapshot of the Underground River in Puerto Princesa City (our official nominee to the New 7 Wonders of Nature), we have a pristine white beach from Bohol. What more can I say? Diving, Snorkeling, Beach-bumming, Trekking? Its all here at Panglao Island!
“How precious to me are your thoughts, O God! How vast is the sum of them! Were I to count them, they would outnumber the grains of sand.”
-Psalm 139:17-18 NIV

"Paraiso" (paradise) in the middle of the Philippine archipelago. The Panglao Island beach in Bohol will captivate you with its simplicity. Relax and make time pass by as you walk barefoot along her powdery white sand while enjoying the sea-breeze. Swim, snorkle, dive and just await the sunset for an invigorating day in the Visayas.

This photo is my official entry to the 2010 Southeast Asia Awards for Photography and Writing. To increase my chance of winning please vote (and promote) by visiting this SITE. Thank you!

This is about 20-30minutes from Tagbilaran City, Bohol's capital.
When I went here, I just took the jeepney from the terminal near the market. I paid around P25, if I can still remember right. Just be sure to be back by 5pm to the city proper if you are not booked in any of the hotel or guesthouse in the island because public jeepneys are rare in this area.

A 2-day vacation would be great to visit the Chocolate Hills, the world's smallest primate - Tarsier and have a Loboc River cruise, take some history from Blood Compact Shrine, and say a short prayer at the Baclayon Church and many more.
Bohol, I want to experience you again. I want to run on your roads, sand and trails!
Backpacking Bohol is a must for every Filipino thrill-seeker. Camera is a must too! If you have questions on backpacking, just let me know.

Snapshots Thursday: Runner's Clothesline

I wash my own laundry. One super hot day I was fascinated with the clothes I just washed... Can you believe it, half of my laundry are running apparels? Weird addiction! I love my short shorts and singlets! Not only that they have quick dry material they are also cool and perfect for the summer heat.
My Fave: Century Tuna Singlet (that's what I wore during my 1st half marathon)

Yes, runners do household chores too! Do you see any resemblance on your clothesline?

Snapshots Thursday: Runner's Flash Drive

After two weeks of successful Snapshots Thursday we now go to the 3rd snapshot.
A Mizuno Flash Drive

Now we know that Mizuno is a running shoes and apparel brand. But do we know that it has USB flash drives too? It is actually faster compared to Kingston and CDR-King.  Hmmmmm? I know its weird! I can't wait to see a New Balance flash drive.
